Stamp or watermark?

The two are easy to confuse and used for different things. A watermark is document-wide, sits behind the content and says something about the whole file: draft, confidential, internal. A stamp is placed on one page, in one spot, and says something about that page: approved, paid, received, reviewed by whom.

That is why stamps are positioned by hand. Drag the box where the signal belongs, usually near a signature block, a total or a header, and snapping to the page’s edges and centre and to the other objects on the page keeps it aligned rather than nearly aligned.

Presets cover the common approvals, and a custom label covers everything else, including your own internal wording. A placed stamp can be reselected afterwards to change its text or colour, moved, or removed entirely before export.

What is the difference between a stamp and a watermark?

A watermark is applied to every page and describes the whole document. A stamp is placed on a specific page in a specific position and marks that page. Use a watermark for DRAFT across a report, a stamp for APPROVED next to a signature.

Can I write my own stamp text?

Yes. The presets cover Approved, Draft, Confidential and Paid, and a custom stamp takes any short label your workflow uses.

Can I change a stamp after placing it?

Yes. Select it and the inspector lets you change its label and colour, move or resize it, or delete it. Everything stays pending until you export.

Is the stamp part of the exported page?

Yes. It is written into the exported PDF rather than being a preview-only overlay, so it appears wherever the file is opened or printed.
